  Design of Solar Thermal Power Plant
 
  Solar thermal power plants, using parabolic troughs collectors, are one of the lowest cost solar power technology available today. The cost of electricity from these power plants is approximately $0.10 to $0.12 per kWh, and with improvements, the cost is expected to drop to $0.04 to $0.05 per kWh. They can provide continuous power (day or night) through the integration of thermal energy storage. 
   
  In our design, a thermal energy storage module is incorporated to allows solar thermal energy (collected during the day) to be used to provide heat and/or electricity during the evenings and summer peak hours.
   
  Simulation and Design of Solar Heat and Power System
  Simulation of solar thermal power plants is an essential activity in their design. It permit the study of the long-term and dynamic system characteristics before they are built.
  Our Online Solar Simulation System allows you to specify your thermal load and produces results, such as, the monthly energy supplied by solar energy and monthly auxiliary energy. You can also see typical values of hourly temperature of each tank, hourly auxiliary load, hourly useful solar energy, and hourly parabolic trough collector temperature.  The simulation uses typical hourly solar radiation for the specified location. By changing system parameters, such as, number of parabolic trough collectors, mass flow rate, or heat transfer fluid, the impact on system performance can be studied.
